Protecting biodiversity in East Africa’s Mount Elgon
March 24, 2021
Split between Kenya and Uganda, Mount Elgon is believed to have risen from the surrounding plains some 24 million years ago. It is now quiet and smaller, but still said to be the largest free-standing volcano in the world. The Mount Elgon Foundation (United Kingdom) opened its U.S.A. Fund to gather support for the protection of the region’s unique natural and cultural heritage.
