Improving maternal health in rural Tanzania

The village of Engaruka in rural Tanzania is a charming place beneath the snows of Kilimanjaro, home to the Maasai people. The Engaruka Healthy Community Organization (EHCO) provides access to quality healthcare to marginalized communities, with local physicians and nurses supporting women during pregnancy, thus reducing infant mortality rates. Its Friends Fund distributed $50,000 to expand EHCO’s services and reach.
