Advancing Sustainable Agriculture in Brazil

March 6, 2026

Based in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, Centro Sabiá has been empowering family farmers for over 30 years by advancing agroecology and agroforestry systems. Their hands-on approach has directly supported over 15,000 farming families to grow healthy food without harmful chemicals and resulted in the implementation of more than 2,000 agroforestry systems across the region.

They have created over 20 thriving agroecological farms and implemented more than 10,000 climate adaptation solutions—including rainwater cisterns, ecological fire practices, wastewater reuse, and community seed banks. These initiatives directly boost food security and resilience while strengthening local communities.

Centro Sabiá’s impact extends well beyond agriculture. By empowering rural communities to become active citizens, Centro Sabiá inspires them to advocate for a sustainable society that thrives in harmony with nature. Learn more and support their mission through their American Friends Fund, hosted at Myriad USA.
