Emergency Relief: 6.9 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes the Philippines

October 1, 2025

On the night of September 30, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck the central Philippines, devastating communities in Northern Cebu—particularly Bogo City and Daanbantayan. The quake has claimed at least 69 lives, injured more than 200, and left homes and schools in ruins. Survivors are sleeping outdoors, fearful of aftershocks, while emergency responders race to reach remote areas. This disaster came just after three typhoons hit the region in the past two weeks, compounding the devastation.

Myriad USA is activating its DisasterLink network and working with trusted local partners in their response efforts. Our current response partners are listed below, and we continue to assess other organizations as the situation unfolds.

The Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) is the country’s leading coordinator for disaster risk reduction and management, supporting prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. It is mobilizing vital resources—food, water, hygiene, shelter, and medical aid—to support the hardest-hit areas. Support their efforts here.

Caritas Manila serves vulnerable communities in the Philippines through programs in education, health, disaster relief, and community development. On the ground, it is delivering essential aid like WASH kits and reconstruction assistance. Support their efforts here.

For over 50 years, Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) has led business-driven efforts in sustainable development and poverty reduction. PBSP is active in Cebu, delivering vital support to local communities. Support their efforts here.
